A real blog post will be coming soon. This week was the first of my new job so I have been a bit pre-occupied. But as I settle in there, and get used to the long commute, I am going to get back to blogging at least once a week, hopefully twice. This month has also seen us tightening the purse strings. We do not get paid until the end of the month, and since I only worked a few hours in July, we are living on Iris’s paycheck for now. This means a few less meals out. Well, at least a few less meals out at new places. I will have more helpful hints on how to lose weight in Malaysia coming shortly because I finally downloaded the pictures off of my camera!
I think I made reference to this camera earlier. It is just my old point and shoot camera. So old in fact, that most card readers cant take it’s size. (Insert Jayci screaming in America “That’s what she said) So we went to Loo Yat, KL’s biggest electronics mall. Also the sight of a riot that may or may not (most likely was not) for racial reasons a few weeks ago. Long story short, some guy shoplifted and when confronted about it beat up the shop owner. The media made it into a racial thing the day after which in KL is a very sensitive thing. Anyway, we found an old reader that plugs right into the USB port to read my old camera’s card, so I downloaded a whole bunch of photos from our first few weeks here in KL. Comments of course on all of them.
Iris walking from the air bnb place we were staying in Mont Kiara along the main road. We now live at the other end of the road, not far from where the sidewalk ends in this picture. Dahl would be proud of that sentence! The Mall in Mont Kiara has a Borders! There are a lot of Borders here in KL…Radio Shack too. Weird. For all my worries about not being able to find books in English, it is dangerously easy. Now Iris is worried. And of course, there are a lot of British tabloids thereAlso a Lego store….kind of. This is a place where your kids can go and make a set, not really buy them. Great idea.
The other end of the walk way Iris was walking on earlier in the post. We live very near where this picture was taken, although we did not know it at the time.Enjoying the view from the top of the building we were staying in prior to getting an apartment. Iris posted about this development earlier.
Greater Mont Kiara. The Garden International School, one of the best international schools in KL, is front and centerA view from the top of one of the buildings in the development we were staying in via air bnb and Iris’ boss. A view of our future neighborhood, Desa Sri Hartamas, but again we did not know this at the time.
You can actually see our current apartment building in this picture. It is hard to point out, so just come see it in person!
That main street again…I really like how it looks. It feels very Asian to meMy lovely wife enjoying the lounge at the top of one of the towers in that air bnb development we were staying inIt’s hot here, gotta stay hydrated! The laser water show outside of the Petronas Towers. They played Sting…game over man
The Towers at night. They are really quite beautifulThe view of the towers from our bedroom window on a foggy day. Really cool
A random Hindu temple in Bangsar. Very prettyIris and I in front of the TowersSo we went to another mall, and it had the world’s largest Borders. So of course I took a picture in front of it for John Heise. Turns out that is no longer true, it is kind of small…still bought two books there though
